About Dr. Sara Assar
I’m Dr. Sara Assar, a licensed clinical and behavioral medicine psychologist in private practice in Los Angeles, California. I currently offer sessions in person and via telehealth, with private and offices in Bel-Air and Santa Monica.
I trained at CSPP, UCLA, USC, and Cleveland Clinic, and I currently treat patients at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine Insomnia Clinic alongside my private practice at Elated Health.

How I Work
My approach integrates depth psychology with evidence-based behavior change, the gut-brain connection, nutrition psychology, and the science of sleep. What we eat, how we rest, what we’ve inherited, and what we haven’t yet grieved are all part of the same nervous system.
Sessions with me tend to be warm, collaborative, and honest. I’ll meet you where you are, and I’ll also tell you the truth about what I see. I will help you understand what’s underneath — and then walk with you while you actually change it. My intention is to create transformational changes in your life, so you feel unburdened and reach your highest potential.

Who I Work Best With
I work best with people whose outer lives look like they’re working, and whose inner lives are quietly asking for something more honest. That includes:
- High-achieving adults who feel stuck in patterns they’ve outgrown intellectually but not emotionally
- Founders, venture capitalists, physicians, surgeons, attorneys, and athletes navigating creativity blocks, performance plateaus, or the quiet cost of sustained excellence
- Couples and individuals moving through relationships that keep revealing the same wound
- Clients drawn to depth work — shadow, the unconscious, the parts of themselves they’ve been avoiding
- Those whose relationship with food, body, or self-care has become a symptom of something bigger
- Individuals committed to genuine self-care and self-love work that goes beyond the surface
- Teenagers and adults living with OCD or anxiety — including those seeking evidence-based treatment such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Clients struggling with insomnia, sleep disruption, or the nervous system patterns that keep them from rest — including those seeking Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
